The Legacy Leaders

Pro racing returned to Tulsa for the second time in 2024. With fast laps on the USA BMX pro series circuit in mind, the second test weekend for the night racing Pro schedule brought no worries of Mother Nature, as the Hardesty roof brought a weekend of fast racing to BMX fans.

As the racing slammed out of the gate, two things were very apparent: Molly Simpson meant business, and the Men's Pro Title was still up for grabs.

With a full rack of eight loading into the gate for the Women Pro total point racing, every lap counted, especially for Tulsa local Payton Ridenour. Off to a slow start, while her friend and competitor, Molly Simpson, was leading the pack all three rounds, Payton had to use her local lines to battle back for third place behind Daleny Vaughn on the two spot. Daylight's Molly Simpson continued her consistency, taking home three more leading laps to sweep the weekend for the Women Pro ranks. Taking three of the four wins and igniting her run at the title, Simpson is eager to continue her run when pro racing returns in October.

Following the Louisville sweep from Cam Wood, the rack of men pro competitors looked to sneak away wins from The Cowboy. In our eyes, there were two racers that could topple the wood thrown around the USA BMX headquarters, Izaac Kennedy and Kam Larsen. Izaac and Cam went head to head in the Friday main event, where Cam Wood drifted wide, opening the door for Kennedy to take away his leading line. As Kam Larsen snuck away the holeshot into the second straight, Kennedy regained the lead in turn two, grabbing his first win since Houston earlier this year. Cam Wood brought his speed back to the track for day two, learning from his mistake on day one, closing the door and leading the charge around the track. While those three fought for the lead through the main events. The rookie Drew Polk stayed consistent through the weekend with two more podium, keeping him in the second overall spot in the pro points chase.

The SuperX racing around Tulsa is always interesting, as it's one of the series's most daunting and least forgiving tracks. For racers looking to make that serious next step before turning Pro, the Hardesty Nationals BMX Stadium brings them to the lineup hunting for clean laps. One racer returned to the USA BMX National series with back-to-back weekends, going four for four. 'The Major' Marshall Gehrke brought his speed to the track and combined his natural ability with his gained bike skill for two impressive wins in Tulsa.
