Pro SHows coming to the USA BMX Pro Series.

The USA BMX offices have been buzzing with rumors of a switch to the USA BMX Pro Series schedule. Just released today, August 6th, USA BMX will be testing out a night show runtime for the Pro classes during the Derby City and Legacy Nationals.

Over the years, USA BMX has looked at different ways to elevate the pros of BMX racing; the switch from at the start of each round to a pro time schedule and the switch from Saturday/Sunday to Friday/Saturday racing are past examples of this. This switch in schedule comes on the heels of the Olympic hype around pro-level racing, making it a perfect time to test the new schedule before the 2025 season.

"USA BMX is excited to test a new race day schedule for the USA BMX Pro Series. In an effort to highlight the professional athletes of BMX racing and create an entertaining viewing experience for fans on site and at home, the Derby City Nationals and the Legacy Nationals will feature a Pro start time of 6 PM on Friday and Saturday, creating a “Pro Show” race atmosphere.

As the BMX stars emerge from the Olympics, this is the perfect testing grounds for a modified race schedule format.   We look forward to elevating the platform the pros compete on, and can’t wait to see how these changes develop as we firm up the  2025 USA BMX Pro Series.

Much like the well-known USA BMX Pro Schedule, which is typically released minutes after posting motos each day, the riders will compete on a set time schedule.  For both Louisville, KY and Tulsa, OK these icons of the sport will showcase the pinnacle riding at 6PM each Friday & Saturday of those events.   While this schedule is still in a testing phase for these 2 events, we hope to accomplish elevating and highling the pro class and racers while limiting the pauses and delays to amateur riders during the early rounds of racing each day.

In addition to the elevation of the pro riders, we will continue our quest to create a centered media presence in the hosting markets and having a consistent schedule known well in advance of the event will create a premier presence for the riders competing in the pro class.

We encourage riders and families to return to the track and attend the pro evening show at each of these races as we look to create a great show and experience for the riders and community attending.  There will be no change to the amateur racing schedule at each of these races beyond the typical and customary hold patterns for the pro schedule format.

If you will be in attendance in Kentucky or Oklahoma, we encourage you to come out and cheer on the riders!"

This switch to a pro start at 6 PM on both Friday and Saturday is expected to create an exciting experience for viewers and fans. On Friday, they can watch Amateurs and Pros deliver the best racing of the day together, while Saturday will be a pro-only show with time for rider interviews, lap breakdowns, and brand spotlights as racers prepare for their next round of racing.

These events will be used to test whether or not USA BMX will continue this for the 2025 season. That being said, we urge everyone in attendance at the Derby City and Legacy nationals to try to make it out and support the pros while also supporting this new platform USA BMX is attempting.
