Hero's New Components

Lining the Daylight Grands set up; new components were on full display under joining the Hero Catalog. Aluminum Clanks and Stem to match the Hero Thunder Bolts bring racers and Daylight Cycles fully custom bikes and even more customization.

TAKE THE REINS WITH HERO’S CHARIOT CNC ALUMINUM RACE CRANKS

What began with the release this past spring of our remarkably riding Hero Thunderbolt Aluminum Race Fork continues now with the pending arrival of our all-new Chariot Direct Mount Cranks. For years here at Daylight Cycles and now Hero Bike Parts, we have wanted to solve the problem inherent in the two-piece BMX crankset that’s built around a pressed spindle and integrated spider for use with a bolt-on chainring. It’s the bolt-on chainring! While crank makers have done a better and better job of building ever lighter and stiffer crank arms, with straighter and stronger spindles, the two-piece design often results in a chain that bobs up and down, alternately loose and tight, that you can feel when pedaling. That’s largely due to the required tolerances between chainrings and spiders and the challenge of bolting on the chaining perfectly centered. There are a lot of tricks to the trade but often you just can’t get it right — and you have to go through the same “centering” process every time you change gears — and this doesn’t even take into account the flex also inherent in even the best bolt-on chainrings.

Enter the direct mount chainring, one machined ring that’s stiffer and perfectly round that attaches via a splined interface directly to the drive arm — an old BMX idea actually that was made better for the demands of enduro and downhill MTB bikes. The challenge for a direct-mount BMX crank was engineering a drive-side crank arm that could be easily removed for gear changes. The simple beauty of the 3-piece Chariot crankset that does just that is in its Easton/Race Face Cinch interface and splined “gear ring” that slides onto our 30mm alloy spindle, effectively securing the direct mount ring onto the drive arm without the need for additional bolts or a threaded lock ring. This means changing gears is as easy as removing one threaded spindle cap and a single crank arm pinch bolt, then just positioning the direct mount ring into place.

Each Chariot Crankset will be priced to include one Chariot Direct Mount Chainring, with a specially priced option to add a second DM ring. Our roadmap for Chariot DM chainrings will eventually include every size from 38T-50T, offset for the ideal BMX chain alignment.

An optional 104 BCD 4-bolt spider will also be available for use with standard 4-bolt chainrings."

RIDE STRONG AND RACE SLEEK WITH HERO’S MIGHTY CNC ALUMINUM STEM

While our Hero Bike Parts roadmap includes every part of your race cockpit, the next obvious component now in production had to be our new Mighty “Slant Load” Stem! Engineered to combine that extra bit of support of a conventional top load stem with the lower stack height of a front-load design,  Hero’s Mighty Stem — precision machined from 7075 aluminum that includes our signature brand-mark chiseled in detail on the face plate — proves that you don’t have to be big and blocky to be strong. Small but mighty never looked this good, especially when paired with the striking form of the Hero Thunderbolt alloy race fork and Hero’s expanding line-up of “Superpowered Bike Parts”!

  • Precision machined 7075 aluminum body and face plate

  • Stainless steel bolts with the option for titanium bolts
