PULLBMX – Cameron Wood, a star in the world of BMX racing, known for his incredible speed, precision, and competitive spirit. Hailing from Montana, training in Gilbert, Arizona, Wood quickly gained recognition as one of the most talented young riders in the sport, consistently dominating races across national and international circuits. With a unique combination of technical skills, explosive power, and strategic race lines, he has cemented himself as a force to be reckoned with in professional BMX.
A standout on the USA BMX circuit, Wood has collected numerous victories, often wowing fans with his ability to perform under pressure. His dedication to training, both on and off the track, has allowed him to recover and excel even after setbacks. Known for his all-business demeanor on the track and strong work ethic, The Cowboy has become a role model for aspiring BMX riders around the globe.
Cam Wood got into BMX racing after his mom discovered a flyer for a local track in Bozeman. As a child, he loved riding his bike, making jumps, and exploring yards. After trying BMX, he immediately fell in love with the sport’s adrenaline rush and individual competition, racing nonstop since the age of three.
From an early age, Cam Wood learned that BMX racing allowed him to express himself more than team sports. He appreciated the head-to-head competition and the personal responsibility it required. The anticipation and all-out effort in a short race made it a unique and thrilling experience, keeping him drawn to the sport.
Cam Wood decided to bypass the A Pro class and go straight into AA because he believed it would help him develop faster as a racer. Toward the end of his amateur career, he was already performing at a high level and felt he was close to being ready for the next step. Although he didn’t fully know what to expect, he saw the decision as an opportunity to push himself by competing against the best riders right away. He understood that he might struggle at first but was willing to learn the hard way, believing that facing tougher competition early on would benefit him in the long run more than spending time in A Pro.
The decision quickly proved to be the right one. His first pro race at Black Mountain resulted in a second-place finish behind Corben Sharrah, a racer he had looked up to. Soon after, he earned a podium spot alongside Sharrah and Nic Long, two riders he had grown up watching. Another podium finish in Houston, in a deep field of international competitors, further validated his choice. These early successes reinforced his confidence, confirming that diving straight into AA Pro was the best path for his growth as a BMX racer.

When climbing the stairs for a main event, Cam Wood’s mindset is centered on self-awareness and focus. At 23, having experienced the biggest stages in BMX racing, he approaches these high-pressure moments by sticking to his habits, routines, and procedures that help him perform at his best. He acknowledges that pressure can be a distraction, so he constantly reminds himself to stay in his lane and focus solely on his own process and abilities. By maintaining this mindset, he ensures that he can produce his best effort when it matters most. For him, success comes down to knowing himself, understanding his tendencies, and executing the key details that lead to peak performance.
What surprised Cam Wood the most about his first Olympic cycle for the 2024 Games was everything outside the race venue. The Olympic environment, the village, and the immense hype surrounding the event created emotions he had never experienced before. After years of dreaming and working toward this goal, the reality of being there brought a unique and indescribable sense of pride.
“You realize what’s happening, the track looks different, the spectacle is a little bit different, but once the gate call started, everything felt pretty standard and normal for me.” said Wood.
While the atmosphere off the track felt like a completely different world, race day itself felt surprisingly normal. Once the gate dropped, it was just another competition, and he was able to focus on his performance. He felt he managed his attention well, staying focused on what he needed to do. However, the deeper realization of representing his country at the highest level of sport was unforgettable. In those moments, he found himself balancing the overwhelming emotions of the experience with the need to stay dialed in on his race, making it a truly special and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

For Cam Wood, the greatest satisfaction of being a professional BMX racer comes from getting to do what he loves every day. His passion for the sport and competition drives him, and he wakes up each day with a deep curiosity about how good he can become. This curiosity fuels his motivation, whether he’s racing or training. BMX is more than just a sport to him—it’s a way to express himself and his personality. The excitement he feels, both on race days and during preparation, keeps him fully invested in his journey. His deep love for BMX and sport in general makes every moment in his career fulfilling.
For Cam Wood, realizing he was now one of the USA BMX Pro Series champions took time to sink in. As a kid, he spent nearly a decade in the stands watching the night show, never imagining he’d one day stand on that stage himself. He had once dreamed of earning that moment as an amateur but never got the chance, making the experience as a pro even more surreal.
“...as an athlete, that’s probably the most rewarding feeling there is, It’s just a special thing and it’s crazy that the cup is in my house.” said Wood.
In the moment, he was in shock and didn’t fully process it. It wasn’t until he had time to sit down, relax, and rewatch everything that it truly set in. Looking back, he felt immense pride in the effort and resilience it took to reach that level and execute when it mattered most. For him, that night represented everything he strives for as an athlete. Winning the title and bringing the cup home was an incredibly special and rewarding experience, one that still feels surreal.
Cam Wood prepares for a new season by continuously evolving and adapting. He recognizes that BMX is always progressing, and past successes don’t guarantee future results. To stay competitive, he embraces a mindset of constant improvement, always looking for ways to refine his skills and grow as an athlete.
For im, the journey is far from over—he sees his career as just beginning, with many more goals to accomplish. His preparation and training intensity remain unwavering, but he stays focused on finding new ways to improve. By taking it one lap at a time, he remains committed to pushing his limits and seeing where his dedication will take him in the long run.
